BACHATA 206 (B206) - Level 2 Bachata This is the sixth Level 2 course of Bachata Classes for intermediate beginners. It is expected that the student has a general understanding of Latin/Afro Caribbean rhythms. For the individuals that still have a little difficulty finding the rhythm or maintaining their steps, it is highly suggested that they take B99 and/or B101 concurrently with this class. This class is perfect for individuals that exhibit proficiency at leading and following basic moves - right turns, left turns, Cuddles, hammerlocks - in rhythm. The student should also have a general understanding of basic body movements and how they connect with the basic step. This course comprises of progressive classes. This means each class would build on information from the previous class. It is highly recommended that students register for the course at the beginning of each month and plan to attend all classes consecutively. A skipped class can be made up on a different day of the week (if the class is offered) but missed classes cannot “roll-over” into the subsequent month/course. Prerequisite: B101 - B106 or consent of the instructor. What would you learn?: Basic Steps with duple, triple and quadruple steps, Extra Basic Shines, Delayed Turns, The Reach-In (into nothing, into half turn, into full turn?), Back Packs and Anti Back Packs, Types of Time Changes (“The Hold”) , Foxtrot Intro to Body Movement (connecting hips to basic), Body Isolations and Introduction to Body Waves/Rolls, Cuddle Swivels, the Kizomba Connection, e.t.c. More detailed information can be found in the Syllabus.
